Atlanta Trumpet Festival
The Atlanta Trumpet Festival was born in 2004 out of the vision of the Atlanta Youth Trumpet Ensemble and its inspiring visit to the Western Carolina University Trumpet Festival. What began as a small group of dedicated students has grown into one of the Southeast’s most anticipated trumpet gatherings, bringing players of all ages together to celebrate the instrument we love.
From its very first event at Emory University in November 2004—with more than 100 participants from across Georgia, Florida, and Alabama—the Festival has created unforgettable experiences for students, teachers, and lifelong musicians alike. Each year, the Festival continues to expand, now offering a day and a half of masterclasses, rehearsals, recitals, and community-building.
At the heart of the Festival is a simple philosophy: come ready to learn, play, and be inspired. Participants range from middle school students to adults, all united by their passion for the trumpet. With no auditions required and no competitive atmosphere, every player chooses the parts that best fit their comfort level. This inclusive spirit creates an environment where everyone can grow, collaborate, and make music joyfully.
The Festival features world-class guest artists who share their expertise through engaging clinics and recitals, covering topics and repertoire that resonate with every participant. Between sessions, players join age-based ensembles to rehearse and perform together, building both skills and friendships. The result is a weekend of discovery, camaraderie, and powerful music-making that leaves participants energized, encouraged, and deeply connected to the trumpet community.
